Long-Awaited Warhammer 40,000 Animation Astartes 2 Is Back From the Dead With Incredible Teaser Trailer — but There’s a Catch

Games Workshop's highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000 animation, Astartes 2, has resurfaced with a stunning teaser trailer, captivating fans worldwide. However, a crucial detail has emerged: the trailer showcases scenes that won't actually appear in the final animation.

Astartes 2 serves as the sequel to the acclaimed fan-made original, created by Syama Pedersen. Considered by many as the pinnacle of Warhammer 40,000 animation, it arguably only trails Amazon's recent Space Marine 2 animation in Secret Level's anthology. Its impact was significant, inspiring Saber Interactive's successful Space Marine 2 game, leading Games Workshop to recruit Pedersen for the sequel.

After years of silence, the January 29th teaser trailer release surprised fans. It depicts spectacular large-scale animation, featuring melee and ranged combat, vehicle warfare, and even space battles. Various Space Marine chapters clash across diverse environments, facing off against Tyranids, Orks, and Tau.

While the trailer generates immense hype, Games Workshop's Warhammer Community website clarifies that none of the footage is from Astartes 2 itself. Instead, it's a compilation of shots representing the characters' past lives, with a subtle hint at the final storyline.

This lack of a disclaimer on the trailer itself is likely to cause confusion, as fans viewing the teaser might reasonably expect the showcased scenes to appear in the final product. The Warhammer Community post, however, reveals the truth.

Despite this revelation, the teaser's impressive visuals fuel speculation. The final image suggests the characters might ultimately join an Inquisition-led Deathwatch Terminator squad.

The Astartes 2 teaser has already sparked envy among Space Marine 2 players, with many hoping some elements, particularly the capes, will find their way into the game. Given Saber Interactive's ongoing updates, further inspiration from Astartes seems plausible.
