Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision

Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision to implement mid-season rank resets. The developer announced the change in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative reaction to Dev Talk 10, which detailed plans for a four-division rank drop halfway through the season.
The community criticized the proposed system, citing its discouraging effect on players striving for higher ranks. In response, Marvel Rivals confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will retain their existing ranks and scores from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset, resulting in a six-division drop, remains in place.
Planned Updates Remain on Track

Despite the rank reset reversal, other planned updates are proceeding as scheduled. The highly anticipated release of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is still on track. NetEase Games' commitment to adding two new playable characters per three-month season remains unchanged.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will also be distributed as planned. Players achieving Gold rank or higher will receive an Invisible Woman costume, while Grandmaster and above will receive Crests of Honor. Additional rewards, including another free costume and Crests of Honor (for Grandmaster and above), will be awarded at the end of the season. Balance adjustments are also planned for a post-mid-season update, though specifics are yet to be revealed.
Community Feedback Appreciated

Marvel Rivals highlighted its responsiveness to community feedback, emphasizing its commitment to player engagement. The rapid turnaround between Dev Talk 10 and Dev Talk 11 demonstrated a willingness to listen and adapt to player concerns. The developer stated its dedication to making Marvel Rivals the best possible game, emphasizing the community's crucial role in this process.
The mid-season update is scheduled for release on February 21, 2025. Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for further updates on our Marvel Rivals page.
