Are you eager to master the art of defeating or capturing Chatacabra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*? This long-tongued frog monster is one of the earliest challenges you'll encounter, and learning to tackle it effectively can set you up for success throughout your hunting adventures.

How to Beat Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Chatacabra is particularly vulnerable to Ice and Thunder, with no specific resistances, though it's immune to Sonic Bombs. This monster primarily uses close-range attacks, focusing heavily on its tongue. However, it may also rush at you if you keep too much distance. Given its relatively smaller size, weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade might be less effective due to their multi-hit nature being more suited for larger targets.

The majority of Chatacabra's attacks are directed towards its front, especially with its tongue-based assaults and front limb slams, which are always telegraphed by the monster rearing up. The only significant attack to watch out for from the back is a sweeping tongue attack when it raises its head to the sky.

To defeat Chatacabra efficiently, stay positioned near its sides. Dodge or block its slam attacks when it rears up. Utilizing weapons with Ice or Thunder elemental damage will significantly speed up the battle, leading you to claim your victory and perhaps even a new frog skin hat in no time.

How to Capture Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Chatacabra in *Monster Hunter Wilds* follows the standard procedure for capturing any monster, but it's easier since Chatacabra can't fly. You'll need a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap and two Tranq Bombs. It's advisable to bring one of each trap and a full set of eight Tranq Bombs to account for any mishaps during the capture.

Engage Chatacabra in combat until its icon on the mini-map shows a small skull, indicating it's weakened and attempting to limp away to a new area for the last time. Follow it to its chosen spot, set down your trap, and lure Chatacabra into it. Once trapped, throw two Tranq Bombs to sedate it, completing the capture process successfully.
