Monster Hunter Wilds has surpassed 1 million concurrent players on Steam, despite receiving mixed reviews. Dive into the details about the game's performance on PC and the current issues it faces.

Despite garnering mixed reviews on Steam, Monster Hunter (MH) Wilds has achieved over 1 million concurrent players. According to SteamDB, MH Wilds reached an all-time peak of 1,384,608 concurrent players at the time of writing.
MH Wilds has significantly outperformed its predecessors, with MH World peaking at 334,684 players and MH Rise at 231,360. However, MH Wilds currently holds a 'Mixed' rating on its Steam page, with only 57% of its 54,669 reviews being positive. Many of the negative reviews cite poor PC optimization and performance issues as major concerns.
In response to the negative feedback regarding MH Wilds' PC performance, Capcom has taken steps to address these concerns. Monster Hunter's official support account, Monster Hunter Status, posted on X (formerly Twitter) on February 28, 2025, providing solutions to the various issues players were encountering.
Capcom directed players to the MH Wilds support website, which includes answers to common questions and troubleshooting tips. Suggested fixes include updating video and graphics drivers, ensuring the latest Windows updates are installed, and performing a clean installation of the video driver set. If these steps do not resolve the issues, Capcom advised, "Please also try the troubleshooting steps on the Official Monster Hunter Wilds Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread on the Steam community page, as they contain more detailed and additional steps that may help resolve your issue."
A significant game-breaking bug has been reported, preventing story progression for some players. A crucial NPC fails to appear during Main Mission: Chapter 5-2 A World Turned Upside Down, causing a halt in gameplay. Monster Hunter Status acknowledged this issue on X on March 2, 2025, and confirmed that the team is actively working on a solution.
In addition to this bug, players have encountered problems with the "Grill a Meal" and "Ingredient Center" features not unlocking despite meeting the required criteria, as well as issues when visiting the Smithy. The developers have responded swiftly, releasing hotfixes and updates across various consoles and platforms.

MH Wilds requires players to use microtransactions to alter their characters' appearances and those of their Palicos. The game offers the Monster Hunter Wilds - Character Edit Voucher Three-Voucher Pack, allowing players to redo their character creation process three times for $6.00, available on all digital storefronts.
While players can modify hair, eyebrow color, facial color, makeup, and clothing without additional cost, any other changes require purchasing the voucher. The same applies to Palico customization, which necessitates a separate voucher pack. For those looking to edit both their character and Palico, a $10 voucher is available, offering three edits each. However, Capcom is currently providing a single character edit voucher for free. These microtransactions were not part of the testing period but were announced by Capcom to be included in the final game.
