Fans of the iconic children's show, Sesame Street, can rejoice as the series, which has been a staple since 1969, will continue to entertain and educate young audiences through new streaming platforms. After the conclusion of its deal with HBO and Max at the end of 2024, Sesame Street will now be available on Netflix and PBS, ensuring its continued accessibility worldwide.

New episodes of Sesame Street will be accessible on Netflix globally, including the show's extensive catalog of past episodes. Additionally, new episodes will be released on the same day on PBS stations and the PBS Kids platform in the US, maintaining the show's long-standing relationship with PBS that spans over 50 years. This move comes as part of a unique public-private partnership supported by Netflix, PBS, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, aimed at helping children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.

The announcement of this exciting new deal was shared by Sesame Street via their social media on May 19, 2025. As part of this agreement, Netflix's growing gaming arm will also develop video games based on the show and its spinoff, Sesame Street Mecha Builders, enhancing the interactive experience for viewers.

We are excited to announce that all new Sesame Street episodes are coming to @netflix worldwide along with library episodes, and new episodes will also release the same day on @PBS Stations and @PBSKIDS platforms in the US, preserving a 50+ year relationship.

For Season 56, Sesame Street is set to undergo some structural changes. Each episode will now feature an 11-minute story, drawing inspiration from other successful character-driven children's shows like Bluey. Classic segments such as Elmo's World and Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck will also make a return, much to the delight of long-time fans.

Originally airing its first episode in November 1969, Sesame Street quickly became a cultural landmark and joined the PBS network in the 1970s. The show's partnership with HBO and Max began in 2015 with a $35 million deal for new episodes. Although that partnership ended in late 2024 due to HBO and Max's shift away from children's programming, the Sesame Street library will remain accessible on these platforms until 2027, albeit without new content production.
