Nintendo Switch 2: 120fps, 4K Resolution in Docked Mode

After years of speculation, the long-awaited details of the Nintendo Switch 2 have finally been unveiled, and the results are more impressive than many anticipated. The new console supports up to 120fps and 4K resolution when docked, setting a new benchmark for handheld gaming.

During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased a variety of features. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to its predecessor, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. With double the pixels, it supports a 1080p resolution in handheld mode at up to 120fps, and it's equipped with an LCD screen that supports HDR. When docked, the console can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR, providing an enhanced visual experience.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers have been upgraded with a magnetic connection system and a release button on the back for easy detachment. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing playability in horizontal mode, and the left and right sticks have also been upsized. Additionally, this segment officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.

The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 features a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio capabilities for compatible games. It also includes a larger, more robust stand that can be adjusted to various heights. A top USB port is available for external camera connectivity or for charging the system while in tabletop mode.

The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a significant upgrade in storage, offering 256GB of internal space.
