Nintendo Switch 2 Fans Think They've Figured Out the New Physical Game Case Size

Nintendo Switch 2 enthusiasts have recently shifted their focus from the console itself to the size of its physical game cases, following a potential leak from a retailer. As reported by Nintendo Life, journalist Felipe Lima discovered a listing for a Take-Two Interactive Nintendo Switch 2 game on the French retailer Fnac, which included the dimensions of the game case. If accurate, this suggests that Nintendo Switch 2 game boxes will be slightly larger than those of the original Switch.

This speculation was visually represented in a Reddit post by HertzBurst, showcasing a side-by-side comparison of the two game box sizes. According to the retailer's listing, the dimensions of the Nintendo Switch 2 game cases are expected to be 5.1 inches by 7.7 inches (13 centimeters by 19.5 centimeters). These dimensions indicate that the new cases will be somewhat larger than the familiar smaller cases of the current Nintendo Switch, yet still significantly smaller than the standard cases used for Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 games. While not officially confirmed, it's logical for retailers to receive such information early to prepare their stock displays.

The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 appears to be on the horizon, with no official release window announced yet. However, speculation points to a launch between June and September. This timeline is supported by hands-on events scheduled until June and a statement from Greedfall 2 publisher Nacon, indicating that the console will be available before September.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially unveiled in January with a brief trailer that confirmed features such as backwards compatibility and the addition of a second USB-C port. However, many details, including information about other games and the function of the mysterious new Joy-Con button, remain undisclosed. The theory about the Joy-Con functioning as a mouse has gained some attention, but much about the console is still a mystery.
