The Nintendo Switch 2 announcement trailer reveals a larger console than its predecessor. The trailer shows a significant size increase, suggesting a move away from smaller handhelds towards larger portable devices like the Steam Deck.
While Nintendo hasn't released official dimensions, analysis of a Switch 2 mock-up at CES 2025, combined with the trailer, provides estimated dimensions.

Estimated Switch 2 Screen Size:
The estimated screen size is 8 inches diagonally (excluding bezels), aligning with earlier rumors. This translates to approximately 177mm wide and 99mm tall. This represents a nearly 30% diagonal increase and a 66% larger area compared to the original Switch's 6.2-inch screen. The Switch Lite's 5.5-inch screen is 45% smaller diagonally and 111% smaller in area, while the Switch OLED's 7-inch screen is 14% smaller diagonally and 30% smaller in area. Even compared to the Steam Deck's 7-inch and 7.4-inch (OLED) screens, the Switch 2's screen is larger, exceeding the Steam Deck OLED by 8% diagonally and 11% in area.

Estimated Switch 2 Overall Console Size:
Based on CES mock-up measurements and trailer analysis, the estimated dimensions are approximately 265mm long and 115mm tall. This is about 25% larger than the original Switch (239mm x 102mm), 61% larger than the Switch Lite, and roughly 12% smaller than the Steam Deck. Depth is estimated to be similar to the original Switch.

Estimated Switch 2 Joy-Con Size:
The Joy-Cons are estimated to be approximately 32mm wide and 115mm tall—the same width as the original (excluding the slot system) but 13mm taller, representing a 13% increase in size.
Estimated Switch 2 Screen Unit Size:
Subtracting the Joy-Con dimensions from the overall console size, the screen unit is estimated at 200mm long and 115mm tall, approximately 31% larger than the original Switch. This allows for approximately 11mm bezels on the sides and 8mm bezels on the top and bottom.
These measurements are estimations and may differ from official Nintendo figures. However, based on the Genki mock-up, these estimations are considered reasonably accurate. Expect a console significantly larger than its predecessor.
