Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, which significantly amplifies its ties to the Superman universe by introducing key characters like Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene.

The trailer begins with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl. They are seen interviewing John Cena's character, Peacemaker, for a potential spot on a superhero team. The interview takes a sour turn, leaving Peacemaker visibly disheartened as he storms out of the building.

This trailer offers fans their first glimpse of these supporting characters, who are also slated to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 is set to premiere on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11. This marks the third installment in the new DCU, which was officially launched with the Creature Commandos TV series towards the end of last year.

James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DCU in a new direction, distancing it from the critically criticized DC Extended Universe that included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the DCEU will persist, and Peacemaker serves as a prime example. While Season 1 was part of the DCEU, Season 2 transitions into the new DCU.

James Gunn has previously stated that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though the specifics of what will carry over from the DCEU to the DCU are still uncertain. He has confirmed that all members of Team Peacemaker will return with the same actors, including John Cena as Peacemaker, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Additionally, Gunn has mentioned that the show's timeline will follow the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting Peacemaker's storyline.
