Sony's PS Portal transforms your PS5 into a handheld gaming device, resembling a DualSense controller with an integrated 8-inch 1080p LCD screen. It streams games directly from your console at up to 60fps while retaining premium DualSense features including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and touchpad functionality. The device supports remote play outside your home network, though this requires an exceptionally stable and high-speed internet connection. Importantly, the Portal serves exclusively as a remote player for PlayStation 5 and requires PS5 ownership for operation.

The Portal now offers expanded functionality beyond PS5 streaming. Through PlayStation's cloud streaming service (currently in beta), users can access over 120 games directly without a local PS5. This library includes major titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This feature requires a premium PlayStation Plus subscription, providing substantial value compared to purchasing individual games.

While alternative remote play options exist through the PS Remote Play app on mobile devices or other handhelds like Steam Deck, these solutions require more complex setup and typically lack full DualSense controller integration.
