Pokemon Leak May Reveal Surprising Plan for Generation 10 Games

Pokémon Generation 10: Dual Switch Release Possible?

Recent leaks suggest a surprising development regarding the upcoming Pokémon Generation 10 games. Initial speculation pointed towards an exclusive release on the Nintendo Switch 2, given the performance issues plaguing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the original Switch. However, new information paints a different picture.

According to leaks from a Game Freak hacker, shared by Centro Leaks, Generation 10, codenamed "Gaia," is primarily being developed for the original Nintendo Switch. Interestingly, a second version, "Super Gaia," has also been discovered, seemingly tailored for the Switch 2. This suggests a potential dual release across both consoles. Furthermore, there's speculation that Pokémon Legends: Z-A might also receive a native Switch 2 release.

Switch 2 Backward Compatibility: A Key Factor

The official confirmation of backward compatibility for the Switch 2 is a significant factor. This means Switch 2 owners will be able to play Generation 10 and Legends: Z-A, regardless of whether they receive native ports. While improved performance on the Switch 2 is anticipated, Nintendo's strategy for incentivizing Switch 2 owners to purchase these titles remains unclear.

A Grain of Salt and February 27th

It's crucial to remember that all this information remains unconfirmed. While a Pokémon Presents event is expected on February 27th, rumors suggest a focus on titles for the original Switch, not the Switch 2. If Generation 10 indeed targets the original Switch, a dedicated Switch 2 main series Pokémon game might be considerably further off. Treat all current information as speculative until official announcements are made.
