Pokémon GO has revealed that Gigantamax Kingler will debut on February 1. Last year, the game introduced the highly anticipated Dynamax and Gigantamax forms, thrilling players. Since then, developers have steadily expanded the roster of these unique variants.
Gigantamax, a special form of Dynamax, not only boosts a Pokémon’s size and power but also alters its appearance and unlocks exclusive G-Max Moves. While the main series games feature 32 Pokémon capable of Gigantamaxing, Niantic’s game currently includes just six, with Gigantamax Lapras as the latest addition. That number will grow soon, as developers have confirmed a new event set to launch in the coming weeks.
Gigantamax Kingler will make its Pokémon GO debut on February 1 during the Max Battle Day, running from 2 to 5 p.m. local time. This Water-type Pokémon will appear in six-star Max Battles, offering trainers a chance to encounter a shiny version. Players can use Max Mushrooms, a debated item in Pokémon GO, to temporarily amplify damage from Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Battles.
During the event, trainers can gather up to 1600 Max Particles, essential for participating in Pokémon GO’s Max Battles. All Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles, refresh more frequently, and provide 8x more particles. From midnight to 5 p.m. on February 1, players will earn double particles while exploring and need only a quarter of the usual distance to collect Max Particles. A $5 ticket offers 1 Max Mushroom, 25,000 XP, double XP from Max Battles, and a Max Particle limit increase to 5600. A $7.99 bundle with six particle packs will be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store.
The Max Battle Day is one of February’s highlights, but not the only event planned. Niantic recently announced the Lunar New Year event, running from January 29 to February 1. While Gigantamax Kingler won’t appear in this augmented reality game, trainers can anticipate other exciting events, including the return of Shadow Ho-Oh in a Shadow Raid Day on January 19 and more Galar Pokémon arriving soon.
