Whenever Niantic announces a new ticket or pass for *Pokemon GO*, the burning question on everyone's mind is, "How much does it cost?" So, imagine the surprise when fans discovered that the new *Pokemon GO* Tour Pass comes at no cost. But what exactly is this new feature?

What Is a Tour Pass in *Pokemon GO*?

The Tour Pass marks a fresh addition, debuting with the Global event for *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova. It's all about completing a variety of tasks to accumulate Tour Points, which players can then use to unlock rewards, boost their rank, and enhance event bonuses during the GO Tour Unova event.

The Tour Pass itself is free of charge, and players will automatically receive one when the *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova event kicks off on February 24 at 10 AM local time. However, for those willing to spend, there's a paid version called the Tour Pass Deluxe. Priced at $14.99 USD or its local equivalent, it offers an instant encounter with Victini, along with "upgraded rewards and faster progression" through the Tour Pass levels.

How Do You Earn Tour Points & What Do They Do?

Tour Points are earned through familiar in-game activities such as catching Pokemon, participating in raids, and hatching eggs. Additionally, there are Pass Tasks that players can complete daily during GO Tour to earn more points.

These Tour Points enable players to claim rewards, unlocking items and advancing their rank within the Tour Pass tiers system. Advancing in rank not only grants various rewards like Pokemon encounters, candy, and Poke Balls but also enhances the Catch XP bonus during *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova. The bonuses include:

• 1.5× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 2
• 2× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 3
• 3× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 4

While Niantic has kept some of the rewards under wraps, promising more details soon, we know that the highest reward tier in the free Tour Pass leads to an encounter with Zorua, featuring a special background. Meanwhile, the paid Tour Pass Deluxe offers a unique final reward: a new item called a Lucky Trinket.

What Is a Lucky Trinket?

For those opting for the Tour Pass Deluxe, the ultimate prize is the Lucky Trinket, a new one-time-use item in *Pokemon GO*. To earn it, players will need to invest significant time during the GO Tour Global event.

The Lucky Trinket has a magical ability: it can instantly turn one of your friends into a Lucky Friend, allowing you to trade for a Lucky Pokemon without needing to be Best Friends. You must, however, be at least Great Friends to use this item. Keep in mind that Lucky Trinkets obtained during GO Tour: Unova will expire on March 9, 2025, making them available for a limited time.
