A Perfect Day Pocket: Go Back to 1999 is a charming new Android release from Littoral Games. Fans of their earlier titles, Growing Up and Chinese Parents, will instantly recognize the comforting, nostalgic atmosphere, while the beautiful watercolor-style hand-painted visuals—reminiscent of Growing Up—tell much of the story on their own.

During its launch week, from February 27th to March 5th, A Perfect Day: Go Back to 1999 is available for $1.99. After that, the price increases to $2.99 on Android. Pre-registered players can visit Brother Cao at the Youth Palace to claim a Panda Quake Mini 4WD as a bonus. Also, until March 26th, a limited-time Easter egg—the Old Uniform—can be found in the 'My Bedroom' area.

What Is the Story Behind A Perfect Day – Go Back to 1999?

As the title hints, you travel back to the year 1999—a hallmark setting for Littoral Games, known for crafting nostalgic stories rooted in the '90s and early 2000s. In this narrative puzzle adventure, you relive the final day of 1999, caught in a time loop.

A Perfect Day: Go Back to 1999 includes seven distinct time segments, eleven main characters, twenty event cards, and one free DLC. You play as an elementary schoolboy stuck in a Groundhog Day-style loop, repeating December 31st, 1999—the last day of the year.

Throughout each cycle, you uncover hidden truths about classmates, friends, and relatives, all while trying to help everyone around you achieve their idea of a "perfect day."

Repeat, Revisit, and Rewrite

The game explores themes of memory, regret, and the impact of your choices. Revisit childhood friendships, learn about the lives of young parents, and shape the story through your actions. Its interconnected narrative structure allows for different outcomes each time you replay the day.

Alongside the story, A Perfect Day offers several retro mini-games—like a Mini 4WD race, a Gamicom console, and arcade games—to immerse players in '90s culture. With its interactive storytelling and warmly nostalgic art, this game is well worth playing.
