Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Unveiled and Ultra-Thin

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, at the May Unpacked event. While closely resembling the earlier 2025 release, the Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge boasts a sleeker design that truly gives it an edge.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is strikingly similar to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, utilizing the same powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and featuring a high-resolution 200MP camera. The most notable difference is the chassis, which has been impressively slimmed down to a mere 5.8mm thickness, compared to the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction in thickness also results in a lighter device, weighing just 163g.

The S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the standard Galaxy S25, despite sharing nearly identical specs with the larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its slender and expansive build, concerns about durability are paramount. Samsung addresses these concerns by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, touted as more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The real test, however, will be its resilience against everyday mishaps, such as sitting on it, rather than just surviving drops. Will this be enough to prevent a new 'bendgate' scenario?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge comes equipped with the same suite of "Mobile AI" tools that were introduced with the Galaxy S24 and enhanced throughout 2025. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, much of the AI processing can be done locally on the device, bolstering privacy. However, many AI applications will still rely on cloud computing. Samsung's innovative features, such as summarizing notifications and news articles at a glance, add a convenient touch for users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with pricing starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. The phone is available in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
