Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with an exciting new teaser trailer, sparking a range of reactions, including from the unexpected source of Movie Sonic, who seems unsure about Shrek's fresh look.
In a playful video shared on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," humorously showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initially controversial live-action design to the much-improved version that was later released.

IGN was the first to showcase the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, and the initial feedback was mixed, focusing on the character's teeth, physique, small eyes, and notably human-like fingers.
In response to the widespread criticism, director Jeff Fowler decided to revamp the controversial design, committing to a more faithful representation of the iconic character. The redesign was much better received by fans and critics alike.
While the response to Shrek's new appearance in the fifth installment hasn't reached the level of controversy seen with Sonic's debut, Sonic's lighthearted reaction has certainly entertained fans.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," remarked one viewer, while another expressed disbelief with, "No way they actually posted this," accompanied by a crying emoji.
The fifth installment of the Shrek franchise was first announced in 2016, but progress was slow until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023, also mentioning plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has since delayed Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, shifting Minions 3 into its previously scheduled slot.
