Battlefield Labs: Shaping the Future of Battlefield Through Community Collaboration

Battlefield Studios, in partnership with Electronic Arts (EA), has launched Battlefield Labs, a revolutionary player-testing platform designed to directly involve the community in shaping the future of the Battlefield franchise. Announced on February 3, 2025, this initiative marks a significant shift towards collaborative game development.

A New Era of Player Influence

The upcoming Battlefield game is entering a crucial development phase, and Battlefield Studios recognizes the invaluable contribution of community feedback. Players selected for Battlefield Labs will be at the forefront of this process, testing core game mechanics and features.

Initially, players from European and North American servers will be invited to participate. While participation is currently invite-only, Battlefield Studios assures that regular updates will be shared with the broader community, ensuring everyone can follow the progress. Future Battlefield titles are also planned to incorporate this collaborative approach.

Testing Core Gameplay Elements

Battlefield Labs will focus on iterative testing of key gameplay aspects. The initial phase will concentrate on core combat and destruction, followed by weapon, vehicle, and gadget balancing. Finally, the testing will encompass how these elements integrate within maps, game modes, and squad dynamics.

Two established modes, Conquest and Breakthrough, will be included, providing a familiar framework for testing innovative ideas. Conquest, known for its large-scale battles and control point capture, will be scrutinized alongside Breakthrough, its asymmetrical attack/defense gameplay.

The class system will also undergo refinement based on player feedback. While confident in the current state of the game, Battlefield Studios emphasizes the critical role of community input in achieving optimal gameplay.
