In our comprehensive review, Kevin Lee praised the Sony WH-1000XM5, stating, "The Sony WH-1000XM5 is hands down the best sounding and most impressive noise-canceling headphones around. They demand a high premium, but the cost of audio excellence is well worth it with this pair of headphones."

The Sony WH-1000XM5 builds on the success of its predecessor, the XM4, with significant enhancements in noise cancellation and comfort. The XM5 features a second processor and double the number of microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. Additionally, the earcups have been redesigned for a snugger fit, improving passive noise isolation. The result is a noticeable improvement in noise cancellation compared to the XM4 and other competitors in its price range.

The design of the Sony WH-1000XM5 has been updated to a sleeker profile with a new headband adjustment mechanism. The wider headband distributes weight more evenly, and the earcup padding is now made of a softer, more luxurious synthetic leather, enhancing comfort for extended wear. However, one minor downside is that the XM5 can no longer be folded inward, only swiveled, making it less compact for travel.

Despite these changes, the Sony WH-1000XM5 maintains the excellent battery life of the XM4, offering over 30 hours of use on a single charge with ANC enabled. It also supports fast charging via USB Type-C.

At this discounted price, the XM5 is a steal compared to its rivals like the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and the AirPods Max. If you're in the market for premium noise cancelling headphones, this is an unbeatable deal.
