Steve's Lava Chicken: Minecraft Movie Song Hits UK Chart

If you've recently enjoyed the cinematic experience of *A Minecraft Movie*, you likely recall Jack Black's memorable performance as Steve, singing the catchy "Lava Chicken" song. This brief but impactful tune, lasting just 34 seconds, celebrates a humorous moment where a chicken is cooked by falling lava, watched by Jason Momoa and other characters. Despite its short duration, "Lava Chicken" has taken the internet by storm, spreading rapidly across social media platforms.

Remarkably, "Lava Chicken" has made its mark on the UK's official chart, debuting at No. 21 and becoming the shortest song ever to chart. The Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) notes that "Streaming + virality are reshaping hits," highlighting the significant role of digital platforms in music popularity.

Jack Black is no newcomer to viral video game songs. His previous hit, "Peaches," from *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*, where he voiced Bowser and co-wrote the song, reached the Billboard Hot 100. This marked Black's first solo entry on the chart, following his earlier success with Tenacious D's "The Pick of Destiny" in 2006, which debuted at No. 78.

Other notably short songs that have charted include the 64-second "Spider Pig" from *The Simpsons Movie* in 2007 and Liam Lynch’s 86-second punk hit "United States of Whatever" from 2002.

The viral success of *A Minecraft Movie* extends beyond "Lava Chicken." Enthusiastic fans have shared clips on platforms like TikTok, with some even bringing live chickens to screenings, adding to the film's buzz. The movie has also been a commercial success, surpassing $700 million at the worldwide box office and on track to become the highest-grossing video game movie ever. Additionally, the film's team had their own private Minecraft server, adding a unique layer to the movie's production.
