As the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 approaches, just under a month away, the gaming industry is buzzing with excitement and speculation about pricing, tariffs, and game key cards. Amidst this, Take-Two Interactive, a prominent third-party publisher, expresses a strong sense of optimism about the new console. In a recent Q&A session with investors following the company's full-year earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick shared his positive outlook on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Zelnick highlighted that Take-Two is set to launch four titles on the Nintendo Switch 2, marking a significant increase in the number of releases compared to previous Nintendo platforms. He stated, "We're launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, and that's I think a bigger array of releases than we've ever offered before with a new Nintendo platform." This move indicates a robust partnership between Take-Two and Nintendo, with Zelnick noting improvements in Nintendo's support for third-party publishers: "Historically, being a third party in the Nintendo business has been a bit challenging. I think Nintendo has been very forthcoming in addressing that. And we're stepping up too, because we have great optimism for the platform."

The four titles slated for release include Civilization 7 on the launch day of June 5, followed by the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (specific titles and dates yet to be announced), and Borderlands 4 on September 12. These selections are not surprising given Take-Two's previous involvement with these franchises on the original Nintendo Switch. However, Zelnick's comments suggest potential for further releases, particularly from Take-Two's extensive back catalog. While GTA 6 may not be in the cards for the Switch 2, there's hope that classics like GTA V could eventually find their way onto the platform.

In a pre-call interview with Zelnick, we delved into Take-Two's quarterly performance and discussed the development timeline of GTA 6, including its recent delay to next year. Zelnick's enthusiasm for the Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable, and it appears that Take-Two is committed to making the most of this new gaming opportunity.
