If you journey down the yellow brick road through November of this year, you'll finally discover who'll portray Dorothy in Wicked: For Good, the second installment of the Wicked film saga. One thing's certain: it won't be Taylor Swift.
The first official trailer for For Good recently debuted, showing Dorothy only from behind without revealing the actress behind the iconic role. Nevertheless, social media buzzed with unfounded rumors about Swift's potential casting, amplified by parody accounts sharing fabricated AI images of the singer dressed as Dorothy.
Given Swift's packed Eras Tour schedule during Wicked's filming period, her involvement appears highly unlikely. Instead, all signs point to Alisha Weir, breakout star of Abigail, landing the coveted part.
The 15-year-old rising star already impressed audiences with standout performances in Matilda the Musical and Wicked Little Letters before her vampire thriller debut. Her rising talent makes her a natural fit for Dorothy. Suspicion grew when Weir attended Wicked's November premiere wearing silver shoes - notably mirroring the original color of Dorothy's ruby slippers.
While Weir has neither confirmed nor denied the casting rumors in interviews, director Jon M. Chu hinted at Dorothy's expanded role compared to the stage musical. "I won't confirm whether she appears in the second film," Chu told Huffington Post UK in November 2024. "I want audiences to imagine their perfect Dorothy, though there will be character intersections."

Here's the official synopsis:
Oscar-nominated director Jon M. Chu returns alongside stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for this climactic chapter revealing Oz's untold history. The story finds Elphaba (Erivo) - now branded the Wicked Witch - fighting for Oz's oppressed Animals while hiding in exile. Meanwhile, Glinda (Grande) enjoys celebrity status in Emerald City under Madame Morrible's (Michelle Yeoh) guidance.
As Glinda prepares to marry Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), tensions escalate when her reconciliation attempts between Elphaba and the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) backfire. Their fractured relationship impacts Boq (Ethan Slater) and Fiyero dramatically, while Nessarose (Marissa Bode) faces danger when a Kansas girl disrupts their lives.
Facing an angry mob, Glinda and Elphaba must reunite for a final stand. Their enduring friendship becomes the key to transforming Oz's future - if they can reconcile their differences.
Wicked: For Good arrives in theaters November 21, 2025.
