Short Circuit Studio has announced an exciting new update for TownsFolk, their recently launched settlement builder game. The update, dubbed "Shadows and Fortune," introduces a darker tone to the charming pixel-art adventure and comes packed with new mechanics to enhance gameplay.

Even though TownsFolk is newly launched, the developers are not holding back on enriching the game's depth. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings eight new buildings to the game, including the Altar, Town Square, Blacksmith, Aqueduct, Bank, Granary, Factory, and Terraformer. These additions promise to diversify your strategies and add new layers to your settlement-building experience.

Adding to the tension, roaming Barbarians will now challenge players in both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. This new threat will keep you on your toes as you manage your settlement.

Water tiles are also getting an intriguing update with the introduction of the rare Whale, adding a splash of excitement to your aquatic adventures. Moreover, the update introduces Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks, which will add an element of unpredictability and mystery to your explorations.

To help you navigate through all these new elements, a handy Compendium has been added, serving as an in-game encyclopedia to keep track of everything. The Exploration System has been reworked, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to their preferred level of intensity.
