Ubisoft Unveils Customization and Progression in Assassin

Ubisoft has recently unveiled an exciting new article that dives deep into the gameplay mechanics of the much-anticipated Assassin's Creed: Shadows, with a special focus on the equipment and progression systems for the game's protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. One of the standout features that fans are sure to appreciate is the enhanced functionality of the iconic Hidden Blade.

Both characters, Yasuke and Naoe, come equipped with distinct skill trees that are tailored to their unique combat styles. Yasuke, drawing from his samurai heritage, specializes in powerful samurai techniques, whereas Naoe harnesses the stealth and agility of a shinobi. Players can strategically allocate skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities or to refine their fighting styles, enhancing their gameplay experience. These skill points are earned by completing various open-world objectives or by defeating formidable foes, such as the elite Daisyo samurai.

To ensure a balanced progression, Ubisoft has designed the system so that both characters advance evenly, preventing one from outpacing the other significantly. Unlocking powerful abilities often requires players to undertake specific actions, like tracking down a mysterious shinobi group. Additionally, the "Knowledge" scale plays a crucial role in character development, advancing through activities such as studying manuscripts or praying at shrines. Reaching the sixth rank on the Knowledge scale unlocks access to an entirely new skill tree, adding depth and variety to the progression system.

Ubisoft also shed light on the equipment system, which features items categorized into five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Players can upgrade their gear at a blacksmith and even personalize it visually, allowing for a unique look that reflects their style. Special perks associated with armor and weapons can significantly alter gameplay dynamics, offering new strategic options in combat.

The return of the Hidden Blade is a highlight, as it remains the ultimate tool for stealth kills, capable of dispatching enemies with a single, lethal strike. Assassin's Creed: Shadows is set to launch globally on March 20, and will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, promising an immersive experience for fans of the franchise.
