Ubisoft Expands Mobile Gaming Focus

• Ubisoft has launched a new independent studio named Vantage.
• Vantage will oversee major franchises including Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry.
• This could signal a stronger emphasis on mobile gaming development.

Please excuse the recent influx of business news, but significant industry shifts are worth noting. Following yesterday's headline about EA's $55 billion acquisition, today we turn to Ubisoft and its newly formed spin-off studio, Vantage.

For those unfamiliar, Vantage is a fresh studio entrusted with managing several of Ubisoft's flagship series—specifically, the major titles Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry. This change is part of Ubisoft's broader restructuring amid recent challenges.

What makes this particularly interesting is that at least two of these franchises already have a footprint in mobile gaming. Rainbow Six Mobile, for instance, has been in development for a considerable time, eagerly awaited by fans who want tactical multiplayer action on the go.

The Ubisoft Dilemma

It’s no secret that Ubisoft has often seemed scattered and driven by commercial pressures. However, concentrating studio efforts on a select few key franchises is generally a positive step.

EA has faced comparable issues before—recall Apex Legends Mobile? Given that mobile gaming is now an undeniable third pillar of the industry, ignoring it would mean missing a huge opportunity. While there’s a risk that non-core projects might be deprioritized, we remain hopeful that won’t happen.
