Originally launched exclusively in Japan on February 24, 2021, for iOS, Android, and PC, Umamusume: Pretty Derby offers a unique blend of racing simulation and storytelling. The game features legendary racehorses reborn as "horse girls" or "Umamusume," who combine the appearance of high school girls with the ears, tails, endurance, and speed of horses. These horse girls train at Tokyo's Tracen Academy, aiming to achieve stardom as both racers and idols.

According to the game's Steam page, Umamusume: Pretty Derby lets players "scout featured trainees and supporters as you navigate the immersive sports life simulation through the game’s in-depth training system and top-of-the-line 3D graphics!"
