In the latest installment, *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, the gameplay diverges from its predecessors by allowing you to control a single protagonist who can switch between various weapons as they progress. Unlike earlier games where weapons were tied to specific characters, *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* simplifies this by focusing on one character's journey and their expanding arsenal.
You start the game equipped with a basic sword, but as you conquer missions and defeat designated enemy officers, you'll unlock additional weapons. It's possible to acquire all nine weapons by the end of Chapter 3, though the exact timing depends on which officers you defeat. To help you unlock each weapon at the earliest opportunity, here’s a detailed guide on when and how I unlocked each main weapon:
Where To Find New Weapons In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
- Sword – This is your starting weapon; you begin the game with it.
- Spear – Unlock this by completing the Battle of Guangyang in Chapter 1. You'll need to purchase it to advance the story.
- Gauntlets – Available in the Battle of Guangzong during Chapter 1. Defeat Zhou Cang to claim them.
- Wheels – During the Suppression of You Province in Chapter 2, defeat Zhang Ju to earn this unique weapon.
- Podao – In the Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits mission in Chapter 2, defeat any of the numerous officers carrying this weapon to unlock it.
- Staff – In the Assassination of Dong Zhuo in Chapter 2, navigate through the chaos to find an officer in a treasure chamber with a secret passage. Defeat him to obtain the staff.
- Twin Pike – Earn this during the Battle of Hulao Gate in Chapter 2 by defeating Zhang Liao.
- Lance – During the Battle of Xu Province, choose a side (Cao Cao or Liu Bei) and defeat an officer on the opposing side who wields the Lance to unlock it.
- Crescent Blade – This weapon becomes available in Chapter 3. Depending on the faction you side with, the exact mission may vary, but you're guaranteed to unlock it before completing the chapter.
Lastly, there's the Halberd, considered the game's top weapon. To unlock it, you'll need to complete the campaign and then face Lu Bu in the Battle of Hulao Gate. It’s a challenging encounter, but the reward is well worth it.
And that’s how you can unlock each weapon in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.
*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
