During today's Gamescom Opening Night Live pre-show, Ghostrunner's developer unveiled their new project: Valor Mortis. This single-player, first-person soulslike transports players to an alternate-history Eastern Europe amid a fictionalized Napoleonic invasion.
Players assume the role of William, a deceased French soldier resurrected with control over Nephtoglobin – a corrupting, plague-like substance. While this power has twisted his former allies into monstrosities, William wields it to defy Napoleon's forces and reclaim his homeland.
The gameplay reveal showcased visceral body horror as enemies mutate into grotesque creatures under Nephtoglobin's influence. As William harvests more of this substance, he unlocks devastating abilities like pyrokinesis.
Valor Mortis is slated for 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A closed playtest will launch in upcoming weeks – interested players can register on the official website.
