The Battle of Polytopia has just upped the ante with the introduction of Weekly Challenges, a new competitive twist that promises to test your strategic prowess in this popular 4X strategy game. Dive in to discover everything you need to know about this exciting update.
If you're familiar with The Battle of Polytopia, you know that randomness is a key element, with varying enemies, resources, and maps keeping the gameplay unpredictable. However, with the latest free update, the game is introducing a more structured competition through Weekly Challenges.
Every week, players will tackle the same map and tribe under identical gameplay conditions. The challenge? Achieve the highest possible score within 20 turns. You get one attempt per day, capping at seven tries per week. This feature also allows you to play as tribes you might not own yet. The game boasts 16 tribes in total—four included with the base game and twelve additional tribes available for purchase at $1-4 each. In Weekly Challenges, everyone competes as the same tribe, regardless of ownership.
Absolutely! The addition of Weekly Challenges injects a new level of excitement into The Battle of Polytopia. Alongside this feature, the game now includes a League system. Everyone starts in the Entry League and can move up or down based on their performance. Each week, the top third of players advance, the bottom third are relegated, and those in the middle stay in their current league.
As you progress through the leagues, the difficulty increases. In the Entry League, you'll face AI on Easy mode, but by the time you reach the Gold League, you'll be competing against Crazy difficulty bots. Missing a week won't demote you, but your ranking will adjust based on other players' performances.
