As a long-time PC gamer, I've always relied on Steam sales to keep my gaming library fresh. Game Pass never quite caught my attention until recently. The unexpected drop of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* by Bethesda and Virtuos directly onto Game Pass was a game-changer for me. This wasn't just a remaster; it was a borderline-remake with new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and stunningly remastered VFX. They even brought in new voice actors, yet managed to keep the charm of the original's quirky dialogue. The base edition of the remaster, including all the original DLCs, is priced at $49.99, with a deluxe edition available for $10 more. It was released across PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22, and I've been immersed in its enchanting world ever since.
But the surprises didn't stop there. Tomorrow, *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33* from French studio Sandfall Interactive hits Game Pass. This debut game, inspired by JRPG classics, has already earned a 92 rating on Metacritic. IGN's 9/10 review lauded its story design, calling it "a true modern throwback." The game's stylish UI echoes the Persona series, and its turn-based combat system is one of the most innovative I've seen. Priced at $49.99, it's set to launch at midnight PST tonight in the U.S.
While *Expedition 33* was poised to be the star of April's Game Pass lineup, the sudden release of *Oblivion Remastered* has cast a bit of a shadow over it. However, I see it as a win-win situation. Instead of shelling out $100 for both games, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only question is when I'll see the sun again.
Game Pass has been on a roll lately, adding titles like *Blue Prince*, *South of Midnight*, and *Avowed*, alongside classics such as *GTA V* and the entire *Call of Duty* series. It's clear there's something for every type of gamer.
Game Pass Ultimate, starting at $19.99/month, offers access to the full Game Pass library across consoles, PCs, and cloud gaming. The PC-only Game Pass is more affordable at $9.99/month. The Standard and Core tiers, priced at $14.99/month and $9.99/month respectively, don't include day one releases. The last price increase was in July 2024, and with these blockbuster game launches, another hike could be on the horizon.
Currently, there are no live Game Pass deals, but a three-month subscription might shield you from future price increases. For those interested in other platforms, check out our roundup of PS5, PC, and Switch deals. And don't forget, U.S. preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 go live tonight.
