Paramount Pictures has reshuffled its upcoming movie schedule, pushing back the release dates for both The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. As a result, fans of these highly anticipated Nickelodeon films will now have to wait several months longer than originally planned.
According to Variety, the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, now officially titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, is no longer set for its January 30, 2026 debut. Instead, the film will arrive much later—October 9, 2026. This marks a delay of nearly nine months from its previously announced date. In positive news, Paramount unveiled a brand-new logo for the film, giving fans a fresh visual to anticipate.
This is not the first time the film has been postponed. Its original release date was October 10, 2025, before being pushed to early 2026 earlier this year. No official reason has been given for the latest delay, though confirmed voice actors Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam remain attached to the project.
The story of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender is expected to follow the original Avatar, Aang, many years after the events of the beloved animated series. It received its official title at CinemaCon last month and is also the first installment in what’s said to be a trilogy exploring the wider Avatar universe.
In addition to Avatar, Paramount has also delayed the sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Originally scheduled for October 9, 2026, the film will now premiere on September 17, 2027—pushing it back by almost an entire year. The sequel was announced shortly before the first film debuted in 2023, raising expectations among longtime TMNT fans.
This extended delay means fans will have to wait even longer to see how the intriguing mid-credits scene from the first movie pays off. At this time, there are no details available regarding the plot or cast beyond what's already been revealed. However, audiences can enjoy the ongoing Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series as they await further updates.
