Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising to enhance the gaming experience with features like new game+, additional difficulty settings, extra story content, and more. This comprehensive plan for 2025 was detailed in a concise four-and-a-half-minute video update released today, providing fans with a clear schedule for May and June and a glimpse into how the team behind this latest stealth-action installment intends to keep players engaged with free updates throughout the year.
The content rollout begins in early May with The Works of Luis Frois, the first of several free story add-ons. Alongside this, players can expect a Codex update and quality-of-life improvements, including significant parkour enhancements and a photo mode update arriving next month. These updates are part of Ubisoft's ongoing commitment to listen to its community and incorporate their feedback into future developments for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
“Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released,” said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. “Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms.”
In June, players can look forward to another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These updates are highly anticipated by the community, but Ubisoft has more in store, including new game+ support, additional story content, special collaborations, and more, all expected before the year ends.
The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji, set to release later in the year. This expansion will introduce new content such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, offering a 10-hour journey. While pricing details are yet to be announced, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft’s iconic stealth series to the setting of Feudal Japan. Its successful release has earned it a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and the title of the best-selling game of last month.
