Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Sales Surpass 2 Million Copies in 12 Days

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has achieved an outstanding sales milestone, moving over 2 million copies within just 12 days of release. The French RPG's impressive momentum continues nearly doubling its initial million-unit launch numbers from the first three days.

A Shared Spotlight With Bethesda's Classic

What makes these sales figures particularly remarkable is that Clair Obscur launched simultaneously with Bethesda's Oblivion Remastered as a day-one Game Pass title. French studio Sandfall Interactive and publisher Kepler Interactive have clearly struck gold with their atmospheric RPG adventure.

"We've been humbled watching players embark on this journey with us," the developers shared on social media. "Your shared experiences - every discovery, every emotional moment - have been incredible to witness."

When Bethesda unexpectedly dropped The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered alongside Clair Obscur's launch, many expected competition between the RPG titles. Yet both projects have flourished side-by-side in what's proving to be a tremendous month for role-playing game fans.

Complementary Rather Than Competitive

According to Kepler Interactive, rather than cannibalizing sales, Oblivion's release actually boosted enthusiasm for RPGs overall, benefiting Clair Obscur in the process.

Kepler's senior portfolio manager Matt Handrahan explained: "We recognized early that Expedition 33 occupied a unique creative space. The Western and Japanese RPG traditions have distinct audiences - many Elder Scrolls fans might not typically play Final Fantasy, and vice versa."

"By launch, we'd built strong momentum of our own," Handrahan continued. "Factors like our pricing strategy and Game Pass inclusion gave us confidence we could hold our own. The result exceeded our expectations - Oblivion's presence didn't detract from our success. If anything, it amplified discussion around quality RPGs that week, bringing more attention to the entire genre."

The game's cultural impact has been so significant that French President Macron personally congratulated the development team. New players can get started with our essential beginner's guide before diving into the experience.
