Dark Heresy: Owlcat Games Reveals New cRPG

Owlcat Games has unveiled Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, the studio's next cRPG following the acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.

Announced at the Warhammer Skulls 2025 showcase, Dark Heresy casts players as an Inquisitor, a ruthless enforcer of Imperial orthodoxy. Here is the official description:

Enter the shadows as an Inquisition acolyte in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, a new narrative-driven tactical RPG set within the beloved grimdark universe. Against the backdrop of the Noctis Aeterna and the enigma of the Tyrant Star, command a warband of varied allies in a desperate struggle against heresy and corruption — from loyal Imperial servants like a grizzled Guardsman from the death world of Catachan, to dubious xenos such as a bird-like Kroot mercenary.

With complex investigations, a turn-based combat system, and decisions bearing serious repercussions, Dark Heresy plunges players deep into the brutality and mystique of one of the Imperium's most dreaded institutions. The game significantly builds upon concepts from Rogue Trader and includes fully voiced dialogue.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is coming to PC (via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. A specific release timeframe was not provided.

In related news, Owlcat confirmed upcoming content for Rogue Trader, featuring the second major story expansion, Lex Imperialis, and a Season Pass 2 that bundles two further DLC expansions with a cosmetic customization pack.

Lex Imperialis places players under the rigid enforcement of Imperial Law. A fresh 15-hour narrative introduces the Adeptus Arbites, an unyielding law enforcement faction, and a new companion — the severe and unwavering Solomorne Anthar. Utilizing battle Familiars such as cybernetic eagles and cyber-mastiffs, this DLC "enhances both the gameplay and narrative depth" of Rogue Trader and launches for all players on June 24, 2025.

Season Pass 2 for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader was also announced, comprising two new story expansions and a cosmetic customization pack.

The third major expansion enables players to infiltrate a Necron vault overseen by the fan-favorite Trazyn the Infinite, confront ancient guardians, and unearth relics connected to the Von Valancius dynasty.

The fourth expansion invites players to navigate the Processional of the Damned — a bizarre graveyard of voidships — in a haunting journey into madness and mystery. Each DLC includes a new companion, quests woven into the core storyline, fresh mechanics, and approximately 15 hours of gameplay.
