Dune: Awakening Release Schedule and Early Access Times

Funcom has officially announced the worldwide launch schedule for Dune: Awakening.

Inspired by Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment’s hit films, Dune: Awakening is a survival MMO set on Arrakis, the most treacherous planet in the universe, where players can freely explore its vast open world for the very first time.

Survival depends on mastering Fremen traditions, while you grow stronger through combat, spice harvesting, base building, and trade. The game launches on June 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, following a three-week delay to resolve problems found during beta testing. Players with “head start” access, however, can begin playing five days earlier, starting June 5.

Our impressions from the beta were highly positive, as noted in IGN’s Dune: Awakening beta preview: “As a longtime Dune enthusiast, it’s incredibly satisfying to explore and uncover new layers of a universe I deeply admire. Funcom has clearly invested heavily in worldbuilding and lore, despite taking notable creative freedom by placing Awakening in a parallel reality outside the main book and movie canon.”

Last week, Funcom hosted a livestream showcasing Dune: Awakening’s mid-to-endgame content and an extensive tour of Hagga Basin, “highlighting the scale and variety players can look forward to.” Featured areas included “the vibrant O’odham region, the daunting Hagga Rift, and the towering spires and rock formations of Jabal Eifrit, among others.” Until now, beta participants had only seen about 25% of Hagga Basin, so the stream fully revealed “these massive and varied landscapes.”

“Before even venturing into the expansive dunes and perils of the Deep Desert, players will experience a complete survival adventure,” Funcom revealed.

“They’ll rise in the ranks of either House Atreides or Harkonnen; construct formidable strongholds; brave Imperial Testing Stations; unlock advanced schematics for crafting; and explore and gather resources using a range of vehicles, and much more.” In addition, the “Landsraad system lets every player contribute to their faction’s progress, regardless of whether they focus on PvE or PvP.”
