The game director of The Blood Of Dawnwalker explained why he quit CDPR and opened his own studio

Following the launches of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, not all CD Projekt RED veterans remained with the company. Some chose to form Rebel Wolves, the studio behind the recently announced The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a key figure in the departure, explained his reasons for leaving CDPR:

He desired a new creative direction with trusted colleagues, leading to the founding of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for RPGs and their history fueled a desire to innovate and expand upon established RPG conventions. They conceived ambitious, unconventional ideas. However, convincing a large corporation to embrace such radical changes and new intellectual property proved challenging. Therefore, establishing their own studio became the only path to realizing their vision.

This innovative approach carries inherent risks. Tomaszkiewicz contrasts the agility of a smaller team with the complexities of larger studios. He emphasizes the importance of direct communication and collaborative vision-sharing within Rebel Wolves' close-knit environment, fostering a stronger sense of creative energy and facilitating the development of truly unique gameplay mechanics.
