The director of Lies of P is considering developing a multiplayer game after participating in the Elden Ring: Nightreign network test. Learn more about the playtime for the Overture DLC and what players can anticipate from the upcoming content.

Director Choi Ji-Won described his experience with the Elden Ring: Nightreign network test as invigorating, sparking fresh ideas for his studio's future titles. During the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Eurogamer spoke with Choi about his work within the Souls-like genre. He has previously expressed his admiration for FromSoftware's games, and this influence is evident throughout Lies of P.
Choi shared his perspective on the new Elden Ring project, stating, "I played Nightreign and it felt incredibly fresh and innovative. It reinforced my belief that they are exceptional developers who consistently push creative boundaries and expand their vision. Interestingly, it motivated me to ensure our Overture DLC delivers the best possible experience."
This experience has made him receptive to the idea of creating multiplayer games. Choi commented, "Regarding our future projects, we are absolutely open to exploring all kinds of opportunities."

Although he appreciates FromSoftware's work, Choi firmly stated that he does not draw inspiration from any single title. In an interview with Games Radar+ at GDC 2025, he elaborated, "I enjoy many different types of games. The varied experiences and inspirations I gather from the numerous titles I love are molded into the unique experience that is Lies of P. Ultimately, it's a fusion of diverse inspirations from my favorite games, which I then transform into the Lies of P experience I'm creating for our dedicated fans."

Choi indicated that seasoned players can expect to spend 15-20 hours on the Overture DLC, which includes numerous bosses and content the developers originally wanted in the base game. He explained, "Overture is not entirely separate from the main game; there are many connections between them. Developing the expansion was almost like completing the Lies of P experience, which presented its own challenges."
Overture serves as a prequel to the main story, taking players back to the final haunting days of Krat as they follow a legendary Stalker. It bundles together new concepts, player feedback suggestions, and unused ideas that couldn't be implemented at launch due to production limitations. Choi likened this release to a Director's Cut, describing it as feeling like the final third of the complete game.
He noted, "When we launched the base game, we had to prioritize to ensure the highest quality. We couldn't include everything at once because we were committed to delivering the best possible product." Choi highlighted the strong community support following the base game's release, which motivated the team to realize their original vision through this expansion.

In a discussion with IGN at the 2025 Game Developers Conference, Choi confirmed that the upcoming DLC is not directly tied to the base game's concluding cutscene. Without revealing spoilers, the original ending offered hints about the potential future direction of the Lies of P universe from NEOWIZ.
Choi had previously confirmed a sequel for Lies of P in a Director's Letter video from November 2023, suggesting that the final cutscene might relate to the next installment. However, the development team has remained quiet regarding any specifics about Lies of P 2.
"I can assure you that when we are prepared to share news, media, or assets, you will know we are ready to present it. This aligns with our unwavering focus on quality, despite the pressures we've discussed before. That is my promise: when we actually share that content and news with you, we will be fully prepared," Choi stated.

He recommended that players revisit the base game, as it contains numerous clues about the DLC's content. Choi also mentioned that he has been following fan theories online and found that some have come remarkably close to the mark.
Lies of P: Overture is scheduled for a Summer 2025 release, though a specific date has not been announced. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the most current news about the game, be sure to read our article below!
