Netflix Unveils First MMO: Spirit Crossing Launches Later This Year

Netflix is making a bold move into the MMO space with their latest announcement at GDC 2025: Spirit Crossing. Developed by Spry Fox, the creators of Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, this new title promises to deliver a cozy life-sim experience with its signature warm pastel visuals, soothing music, and an emphasis on connection over competition.

Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing

Spirit Crossing invites players to immerse themselves in a vast world where they can build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village alongside others. Activities include gathering resources, riding fluffy creatures, joining dance parties, and simply enjoying time with friends.

The game's visual style draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even modern art like Corporate Memphis, aiming to create a timeless and welcoming environment where players can feel at home for years to come.

One unique feature is the in-game calendar system that influences progression. For instance, trees planted by players will take three to six real-world months to mature into a harvestable orchard, reflecting Spry Fox’s commitment to slow-paced, long-term gameplay, a concept they explored in Cozy Grove.

At the heart of Spirit Crossing is the focus on building meaningful connections, a core element of Spry Fox’s design philosophy. Studio co-founder David Edery has expressed his vision for the game to be a space that fosters friendships among players.
