Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, announced record-breaking financial results for 2024. Stellar Blade generated $43 million in royalties, and the upcoming PC release is projected to surpass PlayStation 5 sales.
Game World Observer reported Shift Up's 2024 financial report, showcasing a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. A significant portion, $43.2 million, stemmed directly from Stellar Blade royalties.
The company anticipates continued success, predicting stronger PC sales than the console version, particularly within the Asian gaming market. While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, Shift Up plans to unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025.
Project Witches, revealed in 2024 following Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempts any immediate sequel development. However, Shift Up hasn't ruled out future installments in the Stellar Blade franchise.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, puts players in the role of Eve, fighting to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. The game achieved a 7/10 rating from IGN and sold over one million copies. While praised for its action gameplay, IGN's review noted shortcomings in character development, narrative, and RPG mechanics. The review summarized that while "Stellar Blade excels in core action game elements, uninspired characters, a weak story, and frustrating RPG mechanics prevent it from reaching the genre's peak."
