Eclipse Glow Games, in a recent Wccftech interview, revealed the inspiration behind Tides of Annihilation's Arthurian setting and London backdrop. The game's Western focus, they explained, stemmed from Tencent's strategic direction. While Black Myth: Wukong targeted the Chinese market, Tides of Annihilation was designed with a Western audience in mind, leading to the selection of Arthurian legends as its core concept.

The game casts players as Gwendolyn, the seemingly sole human survivor of an Outworld invasion that devastated modern-day London. This alternate reality London blends modern-day aesthetics with fantasy elements directly inspired by Arthurian myths. The narrative centers around Gwendolyn's ability to command legendary Knights of the Round Table, who fight alongside her as she unravels the mystery of the invasion.

Tides of Annihilation boasts Devil May Cry-inspired combat, offering customizable playstyles with four weapons and over ten recruitable Knights. The developers emphasized accessible controls alongside adjustable difficulty, broadening the game's appeal. Players will face over 30 unique bosses, promising challenging and engaging encounters.

Eclipse Glow Games hinted at the possibility of expanding the franchise into an anthology, featuring different settings, mythologies, and protagonists, while retaining the core Outworld invasion concept. The success of Tides of Annihilation, currently in beta, will determine the future of this potential anthology. The game is slated for a 2026 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players will journey with Gwendolyn, battling fate and protecting both London and the intertwining fantasy realm of Avalon.
