Microsoft's recent Xbox showcases have notably included logos for rival platforms, marking a significant shift in their multiplatform strategy. This change, evident in recent months, contrasts with their June 2024 showcase, where PlayStation 5 appearances were limited or absent, even for titles like Doom: The Dark Ages and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The January 2025 showcase, however, featured PS5 prominently alongside Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass for several titles, including Ninja Gaiden 4, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and others.

PS5 logos were not featured during Microsoft's June 2024 showcase.

In contrast, Sony and Nintendo maintain a more platform-centric approach in their showcases, focusing primarily on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch releases, respectively. Even multiplatform titles showcased at State of Play, such as Monster Hunter Wilds, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, omitted mention of Xbox or other platforms. This highlights Sony's continued focus on reinforcing its consoles as the primary focal point for its gaming ecosystem.

Xbox head Phil Spencer, in an interview with XboxEra, explained this shift as a commitment to transparency, stating that the omission of PS5 logos in the June 2024 showcase was due to logistical constraints. He emphasized a desire to clearly communicate where games will be available, including PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo Switch, while still highlighting the Xbox community and its offerings. He acknowledged that platform capabilities differ, but prioritized showcasing games across multiple platforms, aiming for broader accessibility.

This new transparency suggests future Xbox showcases will likely feature PS5 and potentially Nintendo Switch 2 logos alongside Xbox. Therefore, Microsoft's anticipated June 2025 showcase could see titles like Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3, and the upcoming Call of Duty featuring PS5 alongside Xbox. However, it’s unlikely Sony and Nintendo will reciprocate this approach.
