Behaviour Interactive has given fans an exciting sneak peek at the new Killer, Springtrap, and how his unique abilities will immerse Five Nights at Freddy's enthusiasts into the world of Dead by Daylight upon its launch on June 17, 2025.
In an exclusive reveal to IGN, Behaviour Interactive shared details about their latest horror collaboration ahead of the public test build (PTB) launching today. This deep dive showcases Springtrap's powers, inspired by the iconic Five Nights at Freddy's series, and introduces a novel jump scare mechanic that sets this Killer apart in the realm of Behaviour's asymmetrical horror game.
The studio asserts that this crossover Chapter will be "one of the game's biggest to date," largely due to Springtrap, known as The Animatronic in Dead by Daylight. This stalking, axe-wielding yellow rabbit has a rich backstory within the Five Nights at Freddy's universe but has never been playable until now. This freedom allowed Behaviour to craft a fresh take on the character.

Springtrap wields a giant pizza knife as his primary weapon and a fire axe for his Power. The fire axe stands out as it serves as an AOE tool that can reveal Survivors to the Killer. A well-timed throw can lodge the axe in a player's back, setting up a thrilling Five Nights at Freddy's-style jump scare if Springtrap retrieves it.
A special touch to this Chapter is the inclusion of Matthew Lillard, the star of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, who lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic’s Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Springtrap also comes with additional outfits such as the Legendary Glitchtrap, Very Rare Clown Springtrap, and Toxic Springtrap, along with Freddy Fazbear's t-shirts for the Survivors.
Springtrap is just one half of the new Chapter's offerings. While there's no new Survivor, players can explore the new Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria map, a meticulously recreated version of the famous restaurant with unique twists from The Entity.
Key areas of the map include the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall, with appearances by Bonnie and Chica. The map promises not only a chilling environment to navigate but also Easter Eggs and jump scares. The true secrets of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria await discovery by players.

You don't need to be on the new map to experience the essence of Five Nights at Freddy's gameplay. On any map, new security doors, cameras, and a special office will appear when facing Springtrap. These features not only pay homage to the original game but also allow Survivors to monitor Springtrap's movements, provided they have sufficient battery power.
For those eager to try Springtrap, the Five Nights at Freddy's Chapter PTB launches today at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET. If you prefer to wait for the full Chapter, which includes quality-of-life improvements, the official launch is set for next month.
