Elden Ring's greatest strength lies in its diverse playstyles, and my personal favorite is maximizing Strength to wield colossal weapons – crushing enemies with bone-shattering jump attacks and devastating charged strikes. If this resonates with you, meet Nightreign's Raider (featured below).
Unlike the Guardian class – another tanky option focusing on defense with shields and team-wide damage reduction – the Raider specializes in pure offensive domination.
The Raider's Retaliate ability might seem underwhelming at first glance (two stomps dealing moderate damage), but its true power comes from the passive: complete knockdown immunity during execution. This transforms Retaliate into a free damage-absorption tool against any attack, while upgrading the second stomp into a staggering punch when absorbing heavy hits.
Their ultimate ability, Totem Stela, summons a massive damaging totem that also serves as tactical terrain – climbable for positioning or retreat, while granting allies a damage boost. Like Nightreign's other ultimates, this game-changing skill demands team coordination.
Among Nightreign's classes, the Raider delivered my most exhilarating gameplay experience.
The starter Greavtaxe weapon provides fire damage and the "Endure" skill (a backup defense when Retaliate cools down), though players should upgrade to heavier Strength-scaling weapons as difficulty escalates.
The Raider remains my personal favorite Nightreign class – perfectly engineered for intense one-on-one combat. This design shines in its Remembrance challenges (gladiatorial boss battles we'll cover later), offering thrilling solo encounters.
This concludes our Nightreign class previews. Throughout the month, expect detailed mechanic breakdowns, developer interviews, and exclusive content as IGN First continues.
