The highly anticipated game, *The Exit 8*, has now been released on Android, offering players a unique blend of elements. Developed by Kotake Create and published by Playism, it's available for just $3.99. This walking simulator comes with a chilling twist, immersing you in an eerie atmosphere that will make you question every step you take.
In *The Exit 8*, you find yourself navigating an endless underground passageway reminiscent of a Japanese metro station. You're trapped in a loop where the tiles, lights, posters, and even a solitary man walking towards you repeat endlessly.
Your main challenge is to spot anomalies. These can range from a poster with a different graphic than before, flickering lights, or even something as stark as a river of blood instead of a floor. The game's core mechanic revolves around noticing these subtle changes and reacting quickly.
If you notice something out of the ordinary, turn back. If not, keep moving forward. Your objective is to reach the eighth exit without making a mistake, which means correctly spotting and reacting to eight anomalies in a row. Fail, and you'll have to start over.
The game's design draws inspiration from liminal spaces and the Backrooms concept. The setting is modeled after real Japanese metro stations, such as Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station in Tokyo, capturing the claustrophobic feel of the corridors and the repetitive architecture.
*The Exit 8* encourages you to engage actively with your environment, searching for the smallest details that might indicate danger or a shift in reality. The game challenges your memory and perception, ensuring that each playthrough feels unique.
Initially launched for PC in November 2023, *The Exit 8* took about nine months to develop. It garnered 1.4 million downloads worldwide on Steam. Now available on mobile, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
