Midnight Society, the game studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its flagship FPS game, Deadrop.
In an X post, the studio stated, "Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers." The announcement included a plea for employment opportunities for its talented team members.
Founded by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling (Call of Duty) and Quinn DelHoyo (Halo), Midnight Society aimed to deliver a free-to-play FPS, Deadrop, leveraging the team's extensive experience. While targeting a 2024 release, Deadrop ultimately missed its mark.

Following Beahm's departure from Midnight Society in 2024—after revelations of inappropriate messages exchanged with a minor via Twitch Whispers—development continued on Deadrop until its recent shutdown.
The game was set in a unique, retro-futuristic universe where "the 80s never ended," featuring characters sporting Daft Punk-esque helmets and wielding a blend of futuristic weaponry and classic blades. Gameplay was envisioned as a PvPvE extraction shooter.
Midnight Society's closure adds to the growing list of studios facing challenges in the current difficult climate for the games industry, impacting major players such as Ubisoft, BioWare, Phoenix Labs, and many others.
