While we haven't yet had the chance to test the new Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10, we've evaluated a gaming laptop with the RTX 5080 GPU. The RTX 5080 offers a marginal improvement over the RTX 4080 in raw rasterized performance but shines when games support DLSS 4.0 with multi-frame generation. The Gigabyte Aorus Master, equipped with an RTX 5080 at a 150W TGP and a 2560x1600 display, provided insights into what to expect from the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i, which shares the same TGP and display resolution.
Gigabyte Aorus Master 16" RTX 5080 Laptop Review by Chris Coke
"Nvidia's 50-series GPUs are heavily focused on AI capabilities rather than just raw rendering performance. While the RTX 5080's performance is close to the RTX 4080, the difference becomes significant with games that leverage multi-frame generation. Although 'fake frames' might be a controversial topic, their impact on performance can be remarkable, significantly enhancing gameplay. However, this varies by game; for instance, Alan Wake 2 may feel more laggy at higher settings, whereas Cyberpunk 2077 does not. With emerging technologies like neural shaders on the horizon, investing in these GPUs is a bet on future game enhancements. Yet, it's important to remember that you're buying into potential, as Nvidia and game developers continue to expand support for these technologies in both new and existing titles."
