The development team behind inZOI recently issued an apology for incorporating Denuvo DRM into the game and confirmed its removal. This move comes after public outcry over the inclusion of anti-piracy software, which has sparked debates within the gaming community. Read on to discover more about the studio’s stance on DRM, their commitment to fostering creativity through modding, and what this means for the future of inZOI.

inZOI developers have officially announced the removal of Denuvo DRM from the game. Recent reports revealed that the anti-tamper software was present in the Creative Studio mode demo released earlier. Known for its impact on game performance and its contentious reputation among gamers, Denuvo DRM has long been a point of contention within the industry.
Designed to thwart unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, Denuvo ensures that pirated versions are harder to produce. In a recent post on the Steam Community Blog dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed these concerns directly.
"We originally implemented Denuvo as a safeguard against illegal distribution," Kim explained. "Our intention was to uphold fairness for legitimate buyers. However, upon reviewing community feedback, we recognized that this decision didn’t resonate with our audience. We understand now that prioritizing player preferences is crucial."

Kim extended his apologies for not informing players about the inclusion of Denuvo DRM in the Creative Studio mode. While he acknowledged that removing DRM might increase the risk of illegal distribution, he emphasized the benefits of granting players unrestricted creative freedom. "Allowing players to fully configure the game from the start opens doors for innovation and enduring engagement," he added.

Modding has always been central to the vision of inZOI. The introduction of Denuvo DRM puzzled many fans, as it complicates efforts to modify and personalize the game. Kim stressed, "During the Online Showcase, we expressed our dedication to creating a highly moddable game. Our initial phase of official mod support will roll out in May, equipping players with tools such as Maya and Blender to craft custom content."
He teased additional updates to mod support down the line, promising further enhancements across various aspects of the game. For detailed insights into upcoming mod features, fans can expect a dedicated announcement soon. Krafton remains steadfast in its mission to deliver value to players by actively listening to feedback and implementing meaningful changes.
Set to debut in Early Access on March 28, 2025, inZOI will launch simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Although the full launch timeline remains undisclosed, the community eagerly anticipates what lies ahead for this ambitious project.
