REPO Developers Share Future Plans Including Duck Bucket Mechanic

REPO Development Roadmap Revealed

REPO's development team has unveiled exciting plans for upcoming game updates, including a unique "duck bucket" mechanic to counter the deadly duck enemy. Discover what's in store for this co-op horror sensation and see what Lethal Company's creator thinks about the game.

Key Features in REPO's First Major Update

New Anti-Duck Defense System

The first major update introduces a "duck bucket" item alongside a new map. Semiwork Studios showcased these features in a March 15 YouTube announcement.

REPO is a 6-player cooperative horror experience where teams carefully retrieve items in terrifying environments. Players must contend with The Apex Predator - a seemingly harmless yellow duck that transforms into a deadly monster when disturbed, attacking players for 10 seconds before reverting.

The new duck bucket will let players trap the troublesome fowl, preventing it from following the group or being accidentally activated by teammates. The update also includes enhanced facial animations and various quality-of-life improvements.

Parkour-Focused Museum Map & Matchmaking Improvements

Semiwork Studios announced "The Museum," a new map designed to test players' parkour abilities. Extraction zones will feature clearer visual boundaries to indicate valid drop-off areas.

Public lobbies are in development, with the team carefully considering player feedback. "While most players want public/private matchmaking with a kick function, implementing this requires complex server coding - new territory for our team," developers explained.

Due to technical challenges, this feature may arrive later than originally planned.

Lethal Company Creator's Feedback

Since its February launch, REPO has drawn comparisons to Lethal Company for similar cooperative horror mechanics. Creator Zeekerss shared constructive criticism on March 15 via Twitter(X), praising the core concept while suggesting improvements.

Zeekerss noted: "REPO shines in cramped mansion settings with team objectives like moving a grand piano. However, voice chat range feels too limited, and open areas don't suit the gameplay as well as tight corridors."

He added: "The game needs clearer ways to learn enemy behaviors, though I suspect the developers already have plans for this."

Currently available only on PC, REPO has become Steam's #2 top-selling title behind Counter-Strike 2, peaking at 230,645 concurrent players - approaching Lethal Company's record. For the latest REPO news, check our coverage below.
